This Documentary focuses on Palestinian women who use video cameras to capture the daily hardships and horrors of life under Israeli occupation. The visual record in East Bay filmmakers Judith Montell and Emmy Scharlatt’s “In the Image” is shocking: An Israeli soldier shoots a compliant prisoner in the leg with a rubber bullet. A young girl, hysterical, screams as her mother is arrested. Jewish settlers throw rocks and insults at a Palestinian family who have had to surround their home with wire mesh to keep projectiles out. An Israel soldier snarls, “It’s not my job to protect Palestinians.”
